Who is the next Plastic Man?
It's a bit of a stretch, but there may be a Plastic Man movie!

Rumors are swirling around in Hollywood that one of the Super Friends is getting his first movie - Plastic Man! Allegedly, there will be a Plastic Man movie directed by Darren Aronofsky (who directed Black Swan and The Whale). DC studio head, James Gunn, addressed this and other DC rumors with a coy "AT LEAST one of those things is not true. Have fun guessing!". Whether a Plastic Man movie is really in the works or just a rumor, fans are excitedly considering actors for the role. One actor who has shown interest since 2018 is Ben Schwartz, who has most recently been the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog in the Sonic movie series. During a question-and-answer session on X, Schwartz discussed Plastic Man and said "It would be a dream come true. But whoever they get for that role. I’ll be excited that the character is out there in the world in a big fun way. James is in the zone with all of this stuff. He’ll nail it. And I’ll be first in line to buy a ticket." This is not the first time Schwartz has expressed his love for the character, he also brought it up in 2023 in an interview with CBR "First of all, I love Plastic Man. But the reason I think it's so exciting is I feel like there's so much comedy in it." and he also tweeted about the role in 2018 saying "I'm ready to play Plastic Man. Clearly, Schwartz is a very long-time fan - and fans are excited at the prospect of him playing the character too! In April 2019, Schwartz did a segment with The Late Late Show with James Corden where they showed him fan art of him as Plastic Man, which he was delighted by!
Another actor fans are hoping to see play Plastic Man is comedian John Mulaney. In an "Actually Me" interview with GQ, Mulaney read a question asking if he would consider the role and he responded "Is Plastic Man a DC comic? If you know the answer, call my personal phone." and he later said "It'd be a money thing...Apparently, these movies pay a lot, these action hero things, but that is also changing in today's ever-evolving media landscape,".
Regardless of who stretches to the occasion of playing Plastic Man, fans very excited at the prospect of one of the funniest DC comic and cartoon characters coming to life in a big blockbuster movie.
