I need a hero - but which one?

You know Robin and Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, and even Aquaman, too - but do you recall the rest of the guest heroes on Super Friends? The heroes who heard calls for help and served in the Hall of Justice, defending good and defeating evil?

Let's take a look at all of the guest heroes from Super Friends.

Wendy, Marvin, and Wonder Dog

Wendy and Marvin were the first pair of Junior Super Friends from the first season of Super Friends. Because they had no (or in Marvin's case, very limited) superpowers, they were mentored by Batman and Robin in skills like investigation, agility, and disguises.

Apache Chief

Apache Chief joined the Justice League in 1977's The All-New Super Friends Hour. He first appeared in the second episode's segment "The Antidote", where he assists Wonder Woman in finding a giant cobra. His superpowers include being able to change his size at will, and throughout the show, he develops this skill to increase his growing to an unlimited size, even becoming as large as 1/5 of the Earth.

Black Vulcan

Great lightning! Black Vulcan also joined the Justice League in 1977's The All-New Super Friends Hour. He was created to replace the pre-existing comic book character, Black Lightning, who could not be in the show due to disputes with the character's creator. His first appearance was in the first episode, in the segment "The Whirlpool," where he and Aquaman escape a whirlpool. His superpowers include the ability to shoot electric bolts from his hands, super-fast flight, and the ability to transform himself into electricity, allowing him  to travel at light speed.

The Wonder Twins (and Gleek)

Also joining the team in The All-New Super Friends Hour, the Wonder Twins are the new generation of Junior Super Friends. Zan and Jayna are alien twins who possess the power of transformation when they punch their fists together and say, "Wonder Twin powers, activate!" Jayna can transform into any animal, and Zan can transform into any form of water. They first appeared in "Joy Ride."

Hawkman and Hawkgirl

This husband and wife duo have the power of hawks - enhanced sight, enhanced hearing, super strength, flight, and "hawk instincts" or strong gut feelings.

Rima the Jungle Girl

Rima was adapted from the lead character of the 1904 novel Green Mansions: A Romance of the Tropical Forest by W.H. Hudson. In Super Friends, she has the superpowers of animal senses and empathy, animal communication, agility, and commanding animals. She is also an expert tracker and zoologist.

The Atom

He's on Vulcan's shoulder! While Apache Chief can grow to giant sizes, Atom can only shrink smaller and smaller. But, Atom has additional superpowers like sub-atomic super strength and flight.

Green Lantern

The Green Lantern has no powers, but he was chosen by the Green Lantern Corps to wield the Green Lantern Ring, which allows him to create objects, force fields, energy blasts, and even fly. He is a founding member of the Justice League, even though he does not appear in Super Friends until 1978's Challenge of the Superfriends.

Samurai

Samurai received his powers after being struck by magic lightning. His powers include invisibility, illusion casting, and transforming himself into flames or tornadoes. His first appearance was in "Volcano" where he helps save aliens from an erupting volcano.

The Flash

Let's get up to speed: Flash has been a guest hero since the first season of Super Friends and became a full-time member of the team in Challenge of the Superfriends. His main superpower is superhuman speed.

Plastic Man

Plastic Man has been a guest hero since the beginning of Super Friends. A comedically inclined hero, he possesses the ability to stretch to superhuman lengths and change his size and shape - like plastic! He also stars in his own spinoff, Plastic Man, which you can also watch on MeTV Toons!

Green Arrow

Inspired by Robin Hood, Green Arrow hails from Seattle and has spent his life developing his skills in archery, acrobatics, martial arts, swordfighting, and strength. His crime-fighting comes from a lifetime of training, and he is the greatest archer out of all the Super Friends.

El Dorado

While El Dorado does not have an official backstory, he is an expert on pre-Columbian history and the ruins of ancient Latin America. El Dorado's powers come from his telepathic abilities. He can shoot eye lasers, teleport, read minds, alter his size and mass, and cast illusions with his eyes. He can also send mental messages to other Super Friends.

Firestorm

Firestorm joined the Super Friends in 1984's Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show. Firestorm has an interesting backstory - teenager Ronnie Raymond and physicist Martin Stein were in an accident together, giving them the ability to fuse together into Firestorm the Nuclear Man. Their powers include super strength, super vision, flight, and energy projection in the form of nuclear blasts.

Cyborg

One of the last heroes to join the Super Friends, Cyborg met the Super Friends when he captured Lex Luthor in The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians. He was originally a decathlon athlete until he was in a terrible accident. The accident forced his robotics genius father to save his son's life by transforming him into a super cyborg. Joining the team around the same time, Cyborg and Firestorm become a new era of Junior Super Friends.
