15 crazy sandwiches from Scooby-Doo!
Everybody's so creative!

Scooby-Doo as a fictional universe has lots of fun tropes - Velma losing her glasses, Scrappy being forced into cutesy little costumes, Fred making the gang split up and look for clues. One of the most delicious Scooby-Doo recurring gags is huge, gigantic sandwiches. Often created by Shaggy, these sandwiches, at minimum, use an entire loaf of bread, tons of meats and cheeses, and an olive on top, always. Shaggy likes to gets creative with weird and off-putting ingredients, often thrown in for the goof of it all, like chocolate sauce or sardines.
While we may cringe at the weird food combinations in these sandwiches, the real joke is that they almost never get eaten! Scooby and Shaggy are usually scared away by the episode's villain before they can try their sandwiches. And when there isn't a villain to spook them, Scooby can always be relied upon to steal Shaggy's sandwich before he gets to try it. Let's take a look at some of Shaggy's, um, culinary creations.

Super Shaggy Sandwich, "Hassle in the Castle"
The first Shaggy sandwich in the whole Scooby-Doo universe! Shaggy creates this triple-decker sandwich with white bread, ham, cheese, lettuce, sardines, ketchup, mustard, and marshmallow fudge. Oh, and he tops it with his signature olive!

"A Gaggle of Galloping Ghosts"
Shaggy made this unnamed sandwich at the end of "A Gaggle of Galloping Ghosts" and before Shaggy can tell anyone what it's made of, Scooby swoops in on top of a prosthetic bat and eats Shaggy's sandwich.

Super-duper Hero Sandwich from "Bedlam in the Big Top"
Daphne uses this sandwich to bribe Shaggy and Scooby into trapping the Ghost Clown. While they accept the bribe, they never actually get to eat the sandwich. Lame!

"Decoy for a Dognapper"
While searching for a dognapper, Shaggy and Scooby found a secret kitchen with an important clue: dog food. But they need a groovy little snack first, so Shaggy made a huge sandwich. According to Shaggy, this super sandwich is made of rye bread, salami, deviled ham, boiled eggs, mustard, sardines, and Swiss cheese.

Liverwurst a la mode
Most of these sandwiches are made by Shaggy himself, but this one he ordered at a restaurant. This sandwich consists of liverwurst and a big scoop of strawberry ice cream on white bread, with an olive on the side. This sandwich appears in two episodes of Scooby-Doo! Where Are You?: "Scooby-Doo and a Mummy, Too" and "Go Away Ghost Ship".

"Mystery in Persia"
This episode of The New Scooby-Doo Movies, Scooby and the gang meet Jeannie and Babu from Jeannie. Shaggy wishes for some food and Jeannie magically creates a picnic, including a couple signature Shaggy sandwiches. But as Scooby and Shaggy bite into them, they disappear and Babu suspiciously appears saying "I'm sorry, Jeannie, I was so hungry!"

Super hero sandwich, "Ghastly Ghost Town"
The Three Stooges give this humongous sandwich to Shaggy and Scooby as a reward for saving 3 Stooges Ghost Town. They never specifically say what's in the sandwich, but visually we can see it has lettuce, cheese, tomato slices, and presumably salami.

Shaggy Super Sandwich, "A Night of Fright is No Delight"
Here we have another sandwich where we aren't told any of the ingredients except the last one. Shaggy adds a hefty sprinkle of fish food to his midnight snack.

Jaw-Stretcher Special, "Spooky Space Kook"
Fred named this sandwich while Shaggy made it in the back of the Mystery Machine. The Jaw-Stretcher Special starts off fairly simple with bread, sliced meatloaf, bologna, lettuce, cheese, and... as Shaggy puts it "a slug of double Dutch chocolate syrup".

Super-duper Sandwich, "Go Away Ghost Ship"
The gang meets at the Malt Shop to discuss their current investigation and just as Shaggy finishes making his sandwich, Scooby steals it.

"The Ghost of Big Foot"
While searching for Big Foot with Laurel and Hardy, Scooby and Shaggy make some sandwiches to calm their nerves. However, they never get to eat these sandwiches because Big Foot sneaks up on them and scares them away.

"A Creepy Tangle in the Bermuda Triangle"
This sandwich never gets a name but Shaggy calls it "a teensy weensy snack to fight off seasickness". Right as Shaggy's about to eat it, Scooby catches it on his fishing hook and reels it over - but then a fish jumps out of the water and eats it. A tragedy - no sandwiches for Scooby or Shaggy!

The New Scooby-Doo Movies
How could we forget! The whole picnic-basket-between-bread sandwich from the theme song of The New Scooby-Doo Movies.

"Guess Who's Knott Coming to Dinner!"
Captain Moody is missing and Mystery, Inc. has been tasked with finding him. Don Knotts disguises himself as Captain Moody's ghost and scares the gang while Shaggy makes sandwiches for everyone. This leads to Fred wondering aloud if the sandwiches are poisoned while everyone runs back to their rooms. More uneaten sandwiches!

Peanut Butter and Jelly Tree
Not a crazy sandwich, but a crazy sandwich tree! In The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries episode "E.I.E.I.O.", Daphne, Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy visit a farm that has a genetically modified tree that grows ready-to-eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Scooby pulls down a branch to eat a sandwich and accidentally flings all of the sandwiches off the tree.
