The many jobs of Huckleberry Hound
He's sure got a lot of experience!

If cats live nine lives, ole Huckleberry Hound has had at least fifteen and counting. In every episode of The Huckleberry Hound Show, he seems to have a new job and a new problem to solve with it. Let's take a gander at the many, many careers of TV's favorite hound dog.

Police Officer
Huck's very first job in his first cartoon was a police officer arresting a gorilla in "Huckleberry Hound meets Wee Willie". Huck's also worked in many different areas of law enforcement, he's been a detective, inspector, prison warden, constable, highway patrolman, truant officer, and even a secret agent!

Lion Hunter
Huck tries (and fails) to be a Lion Hunter in "Lion-Hearted Huck" and "Somebody's Lion". He also struggles at being a lion tamer in "Lion Tamer" and as a vet, tries to treat a lion with a sore tooth. Huck just can't handle lions!

Knight
That's Sir Huckleberry to you! Huck puts on his armor to save princesses, fight dragons, and save the day in "Sir Huckleberry Hound", "Dragon Slayer Huck", and "Knight School".

Mountie
Huck's one-hit-wonder job was his stint as a Canadian Mountie in "Tricky Trapper".

Cowboy
Perhaps the most fitting job of all, Huck works as a cowboy in "Hustler Rustler Huck" where he saves a herd of cows from being stolen. The show followed a similar plot in "Sheep-Shape Sheep Herders" where Shepherd Huck protected his flock from a couple of foxes.

Sheriff
He's been a police officer, he's been a cowboy, so naturally Huck is the perfect fit to be an Old West Sheriff. He's been a sheriff in "Sheriff Huckleberry" and "Fast Gun Huck", and he's also been a sheriff's deputy in "Lawman Huck".

Farmer
In "Cock-a-Doodle Huck" and "Two Corny Crows", Huck works as a farmer, but he doesn't do a lot of farming. He spends most of his time chasing away crows!

Fireman
Just like when he was a farmer, when Huckleberry Hound is a fireman he doesn't put out any fires. Instead, he saves, or tries to save, a lot of cats stuck in trees in "Fireman Huck" and "Huck and Ladder".

Pilgrim
Being a pilgrim may not be a full time job, but hunting for turkeys is and that's exactly what Pilgrim Huck does in "Grim Pilgrim".

Dog Catcher
This one will raise your eyebrows - in "Nuts over Mutts", Huckleberry Hound, a dog, being a dog catcher to catch other dogs. Is this a betrayal of his fellow mutts? Why is Huck seemingly elevated in status, lorded over the other dogs? Regardless of the confusion, Huck takes pride in his position and sings "Oh my darling canine friends, if you're lost or if you're homeless, I will come and rescue you". He considers himself a lost dog's best friend!

Admiral
Huckleberry Hound doesn't go on a lot of sea-themed adventures, but when he does he's the man in charge. He works as an admiral of the British fleet tasked with capturing pirates in "Jolly Roger and Out".

Mailman
Most dogs chase the mailman, but Huckleberry Hound IS the mailman. Like his stint as a dog catcher, his work as a mailman is met with animosity from his fellow dogs, who waste no time in chasing him in "Postman Panic" and "A Bully Dog".

Court Jester (and Vigilante)
In "Nottingham and Yeggs", Huck is a court jester who becomes Robin Huck by stealing from the rich and giving to the poor.

Giant Killer
Self explanatory! In the episode "Huck the Giant Killer", he even has a little shop with a sign that says "Giant Killer" in the window.

Pony Express Rider
Well, he's been a cowboy...and he's been a mailman so, Huck is perfectly qualified for the Pony Express.

Matador
Toro, toro! Huck tries his hand at bullfighting in "Bullfighter Huck" but is no match for the bull.

Chemist
If you fail at bullfighting and lion taming, why not take a swing at science? Professor Huck is tasked with saving mankind from mutant Idaho potatoes in "Spud Dud".

Legionairre
Sergeant Huck leads a company of the Foreign Legion in a desert hunt for the dangerous bandit, Powerful Pierre.

TV Repairman
He's on your TV and he fixes them too! In "Two for Tee Vee", Huck receives a house call to fix a TV, but the owner's dog decides to mess with him.

Scrubby Brush Man
One of Huck's more unique jobs, in "The Scrubby Brush Man" a boardroom discusses difficulties selling scrubby brushes to a certain district and the need the best salesman on the job. Naturally, it's Huckleberry Hound and as he leaves to go sell the Scrubby Brushes they say "There he goes, the bravest of the brave."

The Purple Pumpernickel
Huckleberry Hound masks himself to become the Purple Pumpernickel in "The Unmasked Avenger". Huck's alter ego is a parody of The Scarlet Pimpernel, a masked hero from the novel by Baroness Orczy.

Circus Performer and Rodeo Star
As the host of The Huckleberry Hound Show, Huck plays a circus ringmaster at the beginning of every episode, but he stepped into the role for "Huck Hound's Tale". In the episode, Huck's great-great grandson asks him to tell him a story and Huck regales him with the tale of how he tried to save the Wild West Show.
