Listen up, dudes, we have got some major Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles breaking news for you! After years of watching Michelangelo create the cheesiest master-pizzas on the original series, fans have often wondered what a slice cooked up by Michelangelo would taste like. The original series even toyed with the idea of a TMNT restaurant in the episode "Once Upon A Time Machine", where the Turtles went to the far-out future year of 2036 and Michelangelo owned a pizzeria called "Michelangelo's Cowabunga Pizza". Ever since, a TMNT-themed pizzeria has been on everyone's minds, but it never became a reality.
Until now! Get ready to place your order because the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are opening up three pizzerias this year! Josh Silverman, president of global products and experiences at Paramount, shared several upcoming additions to the TMNT empire with The Hollywood Reporter, including opening Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pizzerias.
Three cities have been chosen as the locations for the first-ever Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pizzerias: Santa Monica, CA, Monterrey, Mexico, and Sao Paolo, Brazil. That's right, TMNT pizza is going global.
The only other intel we have is that the pizzerias are scheduled to open later this year, but fans are excitedly speculating about what these restaurants will be like. Many fans wonder if this TMNT restaurant will be a family-friendly theme restaurant like Chuck E. Cheese, with rides, games, and, of course, animatronic Turtles. Perhaps the pizzerias will focus on culinary excellence and partner with a celebrity chef like Guy Fieri or Wolfgang Puck, who have been parodied in the TMNT universe as Guy Flambé and Wolfgang Plink.
The TMNT universe has had many food tie-ins over the years, like Jell-O's Royal OOZE Gelatin Desserts, Chef Boyardee TMNT Pasta, and who could forget the green-frosted Hostess Ninja Turtles Puddin' Pies, so we wonder if any of those treats will inspire the pizzeria menu.
