The wacky history of Acme products in Looney Tunes
Did you know ACME appears in more than just the Road Runner cartoons?
Wile E. Coyote may be ACME's number one customer, but ACME was a part of Looney Tunes way before Wile E. Coyote was even born! Or, drawn. ACME, as a concept, provided an important service for Looney Tunes. Any time a character needed a random or impossible item to up the ante, ACME was there with the perfect (or imperfect) product.
Let's take a look at all of the ACME products from outside of the Coyote/Road Runner cartoons. You'll be surprised by how many there are!
Porky's Poppa - 1938
ACME premiered in Looney Tunes with ACME Fly Paper in Buddy's Bug Hunt. Its next appearance was in Porky's Poppa, where they deliver an ACME Creamlined Cow - a robot cow that could make milk, ice cream, and cheese!
Count Me Out - 1938
Egghead takes a correspondence course with the ACME School of Boxing.
The Good Egg - 1939
The chicken uses an ACME toaster. Don't worry, it hatches the eggs!
Hasty Hare - 1952
Marvin the Martian lands on Earth and has to bring an Earth creature back to Mars. He attempts to catch Bugs Bunny with the ACME Disintegrating Pistol and ACME Straight Jacket Bazooka.
Mouse-Warming - 1952
In Mouse-Warming, a family of mice moves into a new home with the help of a toy ACME moving truck.
Rabbit's Kin - 1952
Pete Puma protects his noggin with an ACME Stove Lid, but luckily Bugs Bunny has an ACME Stove Lid Lifter.
Robot Rabbit - 1953
Elmer Fudd calls ACME Pest Control and receives a robot to deal with Bugs Bunny.
Design for Leaving - 1954
Daffy Duck is an overbearing salesman from the ACME Future-Antic Push-Button Home of Tomorrow Household Appliance Company, Inc.
Sheep Ahoy - 1954
Ralph Wolf (a precursor to Wile E. Coyote) uses an ACME Smoke Bomb and an ACME Artificial Rock Disguise.
Double or Mutton - 1955
Ralph Wolf tries to distract Sam Sheepdog by dousing him in ACME Patented Hair Grower.
Raw! Raw! Rooster! - 1956
Foghorn Leghorn tricks his rival, Rhode Island Red, into playing golf with ACME Trick Balls.
Feather Bluster - 1958
Foghorn Leghorn used this ACME trick bone to prank Barnyard Dawg.
Ready, Woolen and Able - 1960
In a move that would later be recreated many times over by Wile E. Coyote, Ralph Wolf uses ACME Bed Springs to create makeshift bouncy shoes.
Hoppy Daze - 1961
In a blink and you miss it moment, Sylvester is seen walking into the ACME warehouse, which is where he meets Hoppy.
Martian Through Georgia - 1962
A Martian (not Marvin!) uses an ACME Atom Rearranger.
The Unmentionables - 1963
Bugs leads Rocky and Mugsy on a chase through the ACME Breakfast Cereal Factory.
Skyscraper Caper - 1968
Daffy sleepwalks into an ACME skyscraper construction site.
